In the beginning came cellular and PCS services...
In the mid-1980's analog cellular services were introduced followed by digital cellular (GSM and CDMA). A decade later. consumers were introduced to the convenience of mobile telephony, but it took until the early days of the next century for mobile minutes of use to exceed wireline minutes of use.
Next came wireless data services and early mobile browsers...
Early days of WAP browsers and mobile Java Applications (J2ME) provided a glimpse of what might be possible. However the fragmented applications market and "walled gardens" severely limited early success. Neverthe less data speeds increased with CDMA EV/DO, GSM/EDGE and more recently UMTS.
Now we have HSPA, HSPA+, LTE, with Android and the iPhone
The arrival of mobile broadband wireless systems around 2008/09 and the introduction of the iPHONE and Android devices has meant that the "mobile internet" has arrived..! Applications have proliferated, mobile media is available and cloud computing is arriving. Smart Phones have lead to the introduction of tablet computers. Devices we did not know we needed until Steve Jobs showed us!

Wireless Solutions For Your Business

Dated 8 Jan 2012 by Mike Dixon

In a 25 year career at Motorola, I have been responsible for a large software development team, end-to-end systems engineering for computer based wireless communications systems, and more recently business operations for Motorola's wireless infrastructure business in Canada, with a special focus on broadband wireless and the mobile internet.

I am now moving back to my roots -  the development of mobile wireless applications on open platforms such as "Android", "IOS" and "HTML5", that are made feasible by the advent of true broadband wireless systems, and the deployment of mobile broadband systems using the latest technologies (HSPA, HSPA+ and LTE) for public operators and private systems.

My high technology background includes:- Wireless Broadband, Mobile Data Systems, Mobile Java J2ME, Android O/S, HTML5 , public safety wireless systems, and large mobile systems for public operators.

My business background includes: Contract Negotiations, Executive Presentations and Strategy Development.

Of course solutions cannot be developed without a complete understanding of business and technology requirements.
